Musk to reinstate DOGE staffer who resigned over social media posts
Marko Elez resigned the same day that a federal judge allowed him to continue accessing the Treasury payment system but limited his ability to share the material he reviewed.
Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) chief Elon Musk announced on Friday that he would reinstate a member of his team who resigned over revelations that he had posted racist material on social media under the pseudonym "Big Balls"
"He will be brought back.
To err is human, to forgive divine," Musk posted. The move followed X poll results showing overwhelming support for reinstating the staffer and Vice President JD Vance personally intervened, saying "I don’t think stupid social media activity should ruin a kid’s life."
Marko Elez resigned the same day that a federal judge allowed him to continue accessing the Treasury payment system but limited his ability to share the material he reviewed. The reporting came from the Wall Street Journal's Katherine Long.
Much of the material Long highlighted was critical of Indian H-1B tech workers, a group that has faced considerable scrutiny amid Trump's immigration reforms and became an internal MAGA flashpoint after Vivek Ramaswamy supported importing foreign labor through the program.
