Secretary of State Antony Blinken tests positive for COVID
He is experiencing mild symptoms, the department said.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday tested positive for COVID-19, State Department spokesperson Ned Price said in a press release.
His diagnosis comes one week after Vice President Kamala Harris tested positive for COVID.
Blinken, who is fully vaccinated and boosted, is experiencing mild symptoms, Price said, stressing that the secretary has not met in person with President Joe Biden for several days.
Earlier in the day Wednesday, Blinken met with Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde during her Washington, D.C., visit.
One day prior, Blinken met in D.C. with Mexican Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard and gave the keynote address at the Annual Conference on the Americas Luncheon.
The secretary plans on isolating at home and working virtually, the State Department said.
