Florida man receives over 5 years behind bars in connection to Jan. 6 Capitol riot

A Florida man on Friday received the toughest sentence yet for a participant in this year’s Jan. 6 Capitol riot, getting over five years behind bars for his actions during that day’s chaos.
Robert Palmer, was sentenced to 63 months behind bars after pleading guilty to throwing a wooden plank and a fire extinguisher at officers during the riot.
Palmer, 54, who at one point sprayed the fire extinguisher as well, was photographed during the riot several times. Prior to his sentencing, he publicly apologized to the court for his actions.
Twenty-three-year-old West Virginia college student Gracyn Courtright was also sentenced on Friday, receiving one month in prison for having participated in the violent demonstration.
