Kash Patel will serve as chief of staff for acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller

The Pentagon has announced that Kash Patel, a National Security Council staffer, will serve as the chief of staff for acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller.

Patel previously served as an aide to Rep. Devin Nunes on the House Intelligence Committee and was involved in pushback against the Trump-Russia investigation, including being involved in authoring a 2018 memo alleging bias by federal investigators toward Trump and his team. 

President Trump on Monday fired Defesne Secrtary Mark Esper.
