LA Mayor Bass stumbles in speech about wildfires, advising residents to visit 'URL'
Bass declined to answer reporters' questions about her decision to travel to Ghana instead of staying in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Democratic Mayor Karen Bass, facing criticism for having traveling to Ghana before the start of the deady wildfires in her city, upon returning told residents seeking government help to go to a "URL," rather than providing the full website address.
“If you need help, emergency information, resources, and shelter is available. All of this can be found at URL,” Bass said, reading from a script during a news conference on Wednesday.
“This firestorm is the big one,” she also said, amid preliminary reports the five fires in Los Angeles County will be the most catastrophic in state history.
Los Angeles residents are publicly criticizing Bass for having gone to Ghana, according to a New York Times report Thursday.
Bass declined to answer questions about her decision to leave her return.
Bass went on the trip as appointed to President Biden's delegation for the inauguration of Ghana President John Dramani Mahama.
