Police officers responded to a home on Malta Street in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood at about 1:52 p.m. Saturday after receiving a call to investigate a person, according to Boston police. When officers arrived, they found an individual dead inside the residence. The case has since been turned over to the department's homicide unit, although investigators have not released the person's identity or disclosed a cause of death.

City property records identify the home's owner as Conan Harris, Pressley's husband. The couple does not live at the address, which is a rental property currently listed for sale. The two-story home was built in 1910 and has an assessed value of about $919,000.

Police cordoned off the property with crime scene tape as detectives continued their investigation. Authorities have not said whether foul play is suspected or announced any arrests.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Pressley said the congresswoman "extends her deepest condolences to the impacted family." The spokesperson also emphasized that neither Pressley nor Harris resides at the property.
