Couple in their mid-80's murdered during daily visit to their son's grave
The police identified a 29-year-old man as the suspect who shot the couple.
A married couple in their mid-80's were gunned down on May 8 while conducting their daily visit to the grave of their son who died in 2017.
Authorities identified the now-deceased 29-year old Sheldon C. Francis as the suspect who shot 86-year-old Paul Marino and his 85-year-old wife, Lidia, at a Delaware cemetery.
Paul died in the hospital on May 9, while Lidia died at the crime scene on May 8.
Francis was found dead on May 8. Francis exchanged fire with police and was shot; however, the cause of death has not been determined.
Paul Marino, a U.S. Army Veteran, went with his wife to visit their son Anthony's grave every day, the couple's son Ray Marino said according to the Cecil Whig.
"It was like a regimen," Ray said. "Mom and Dad visited my brother’s grave every single day, without fail, unless there was inclement weather. They usually went there in the morning."
“They were shot halfway between the cemetery entrance and Anthony’s burial plot, so we don’t know if they were coming or going,” he said.
