A possible boat explosion near the Haulover Sandbar in Miami resulted in 11 people being taken to the hospital on Saturday.

The incident was labeled a Level 2 Mass Casualty Incident, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the explosion. Early reports suggest the explosion occurred on a boat.

"As we’re in the midst of boating season, we want to remind our community to always prioritize safety while out on the water," Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said in a news release. "Make sure your vessel is equipped with a working fire extinguisher and all required safety equipment. Before departure, perform a thorough safety check to ensure your boat is in good working condition and free of potential hazards. Taking a few extra precautions can help prevent emergencies and keep everyone safe."
