Federal judge extends pause on work at historic DC golf course until Oct. 26

The one-day pause was intended to give the government time to find a key Trump administration official to discuss why a massive tree-cutting at the park needed to occur over the holiday weekend.

U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes on Tuesday extended a one-day pause on tree-cutting at the East Potomac Golf Course, a historic D.C. public golf course, to October 26.

The aging golf course has been part of President Donald Trump’s plans to remake the city, and Reyes had issued a one-day pause following a tense three-hour hearing in which she accused the government of deceiving her with its actions over the holiday weekend.

Reyes had said the halt could be extended to 14 days if necessary, the Associated Press reported.

The one-day pause was intended to give the government time to find a key Trump administration official to discuss why a massive tree-cutting at the park needed to occur over the holiday weekend. The project was done with little notification to plaintiffs who filed a lawsuit trying to halt Trump's renovation plans, or the judge overseeing the case.
