John Kelly, who lobbied for the Chicago White Sox, Bally's and the United Center, announced Tuesday that he's running for mayor of Chicago. 

In a video promoting his campaign, Kelly said he plans to put 1,000 more police officers on the streets of the city. He also said he'd bring back ShotSpotter, a surveillance system that detects the sound of gun fire. He also promised to stop "teen takeovers," which are teen mobs that organize through social media, often engaging in assaults, looting and other criminal behavior. 

Kelly de-registered as a city hall lobbyist to run in the race, CBS News reported. 

Kelly is husband to former political consultant Julie Kelly. Though Julie Kelly is supportive of President Donald Trump, her husband calls himself a Democrat who doesn't think the mayor should fight the president.
