New Mexico police arrest 11-year-old for series of crimes

New Mexico police arrested an 11-year-old boy described as a "danger to the community" after he allegedly committed a series of crimes for months.

His alleged crimes include burglaries and shootings.

"Disappointing to see a 11-year-old arrested for a crimes - from burglary to shooting a firearm. But this armed individual's behavior was escalating and he was a danger to the community," Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina wrote on X.

"We need to do something about the toxic mix of guns and social media. Kids need consequences," he added.

He was arrested on Thursday night and charged with "aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy, shooting at or from a motor vehicle, shooting into an occupied dwelling, aggravated battery, unlawful possession of a weapon by a minor, nonresidential burglary, criminal damage to property over $1,000, and conspiracy to commit a fourth-degree felony," according to a local news report that listed the specific charges.

“Despite his age, this suspect is considered very dangerous because of his use of a firearm and his escalating violence,” said Medina.
