Two jets crashed during the second day of the Gunfighter Skies Air Show at Mountain Home Air Force Base on Sunday, triggering an emergency response and a temporary lockdown of the installation, according to officials and eyewitness accounts.
Base officials said the incident occurred about two miles northwest of the base during the annual air show event. Emergency crews quickly responded to the crash scene as authorities began securing the area.
In a statement posted to Facebook, the Mountain Home Gunfighters confirmed that “an aircraft incident has occurred at Mountain Home Air Force Base during the Gunfighter Skies Air Show.”
“Emergency responders are on the scene, an investigation is underway and more details will be released as they become available,” the statement said.
