MAGA heavyweights Trump Jr., Kirk get out the vote in Wisconsin's high-stakes Supreme Court race
Multiple news outlets consider the Wisconsin Supreme Court election the most "important" in 2025.
Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk and President Donald Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., have joined in a get-out-the-vote effort in Wisconsin's high-profile, high-dollar race this year that will determine whether Democrats or Republicans have the majority on the state's Supreme Court bench.
The MAGA influencers did an on-camera town hall meeting on Monday from the city of Oconomowoc, during which Kirk made the case that many Wisconsin Trump supporters might not vote in the race because they don't know anything about it.
"Understand this: George Soros and all of the left-wing billionaires are pouring money into this state," Kirk said during the town hall. "They are looking at this race as a way to get themselves back into gear. We'll outnumber them if we show up, everybody."
In his social media post on X, Kirk added that this election is about "who cares more and who pays attention" rather than persuasion.
Trump Jr. said during the town hall that Republicans in Wisconsin now have "an incredible opportunity to effectuate a real change," adding that Trump supporters would not be able to do it "by sitting at home" and that the justices supported by Democrats would push the party's agenda.
Early voting began Tuesday in a race that pits Republican-backed former Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel and Democrat-backed Wisconsin Circuit Court judge Susan Crawford.
Election Day is April 1.
Democrats now have a 4-3 majority, which they won from Republicans in 2023.
Even though the justices are not affiliated with political parties, sitting justices Janet Protasiewicz, Ann Walsh Bradley, Rebecca Dallet and Jill Karofsky were supported by the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, teachers' unions such as the Wisconsin Educational Association Council, and Democratic politicians such as Wisconsin Sen. Tammy Baldwin.
The winner of the 2025 race will replace Justice Walsh Bradley, who is retiring after serving on the court since 1995, completing three 10-year terms.
The candidates have reportedly received $59 million from Musk- and Soros-backed organizations, which has resulted in news outlets, including the Associated Press, calling the election the most "expensive" in the 2025 election cycle.
