Officials have had more than 1.9 million illegal migrant encounters so far this fiscal year.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection recorded nearly a quarter of a million encounters with illegal immigrants trying to enter the United States last month.
With 247,837 encounters recorded for April 2024, officials have had more than 1.9 million illegal migrant encounters so far this fiscal year, which is about 25,000 more encounters than they had during all of fiscal year 2021.
While encounters at the southwest border appear to have declined from March to April, data released Wednesday shows encounters rose at the northern border. Additionally, April 2024 had the highest number of encounters at the northern border than any previous April.
