Border Patrol last year apprehended 23 migrants at southern border also on FBI terror database
Names of individuals apprehended, as with all persons listed on the TSDB, remain classified
U.S. Customs and Border Protection last year reportedly apprehended 23 illegal immigrants on the U.S. terror watchlist while patrolling the southern U.S. border.
The apprehensions are being reported by Fox News, in response to the news outlet's Freedom of Information Act request to the agency.
CBP stated the names of those apprehended appeared in the FBI's post 9/11 Terrorist Screening Database, according to the National Review.
The apprehensions were across the entire 1,954-mile southern border.
Eleven were stopped in Texas, four in Arizona and eight in California, according to the FOIA response.
The request and response covers the period from January 20, the first day of the Biden administration, to December 27, 2021, just over 11 months later.
Republican lawmakers have repeatedly called on the Administration to release the names of individuals on the TDSB, citing the high risk posed by their entry through the southern border, the National Review also reports.
However, the names of the individuals apprehended, as with all persons listed on the TSDB, remain classified.
