Republicans warn of national security threats from China as Title 42 ends
'This is an aggression when Chinese nationals are coming across our border. It's only with the permission of their government,' Buckingham said.
Texas Land Commissioner Dr. Dawn Buckingham says that the Chinese natives coming across the southern border as Title 42 is about to be lifted, are being sent by their government.
"The Chinese plan is clear," Buckingham said on the Thursday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "They typed it out a long time ago. They're playing chess. This is an aggression, when Chinese nationals are coming across our border. It's only with the permission of their government. They're not just rowing away in a boat somehow and magically getting here."
The Biden administration last week approved the temporary deployment of 1,500 active-duty troops to the country's southern border to assist the U.S. Border Patrol before the expiration of Title 42, which has allowed the U.S. to quickly deport asylum-seekers to contain the spread of COVID.
Title 42 is to be lifted today.
Georgia GOP Rep. Austin Scott said that the Biden administration has created this border crisis, which is going to result in a major national security crisis.
"A lot of these people are not from Central and South America," Scott told the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "They're not from Mexico or Guatemala or the places in the Western Hemisphere. They're coming from the Middle East. They're coming from China. They're coming from all over the world."
"They are taking advantage of the United States citizens because President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, who he put in charge of the border, have created a scenario under which they can," he continued.
According to Buckingham, the border crisis is so bad that Democrat elected officials are taking notice.
"The warnings are clear," she said. "The Democrat mayors are declaring states of emergencies. They are completely overwhelmed."
