California pushes student COVID vaccine mandate to 2023

The California Department of Public Health announced that students will not be required to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to attend school for at least another year.

The FDA has yet to fully approve any COVID vaccine for children under 16. California previously stated that full FDA approval is needed before it would require students to get the shot.

The California Health Department stressed that while vaccines are the best way to prevent COVID, any student requirements will not go into effect until July 2023, pending full FDA approval.

One day after delaying the deadline, the state health department announced it is giving $10 million in grants though "KidsVaxGrant" to encourage children to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
