Jake Corman acts as lt. governor as Fetterman remains hospitalized

President Pro Tempore of the Pensylvania Senate Jake Corman is temporarily assuming the role of acting lieutenant governor while Lt. Gov. John Fetterman recovers from pacemaker surgery.

Pennsylvania Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf announced on Tuesday that Corman, a Republican, will take over Fetterman's responsibilities to insure the commonwealth remains fully functional.

"We continue to wish the lieutenant governor the very best as he continues to focus on his health and recovery. However, as the lieutenant governor undergoes a standard procedure, there is a process in place to ensure that our government remains fully operational," Wolf said in a press release.

Fetterman suffered a stroke on Friday and remains hospitalized.

He tweeted on Tuesday that he successfully finished a "procedure to implant a pacemaker with a defibrillator in my heart." 

Corman, who dropped out of the Republican gubernatorial primary last week, said he is "praying" for Fetterman and looks forward to the lieutenant governor's return.
