Maryland Gov. Wes Moore signed an executive order on Monday that issued pardons for 175,000 marijuana convictions.

The Democratic governor's office said the executive order is the largest state pardon to date.

The executive order covers about 100,000 people with convictions for low-level marijuana possession offenses.

Maryland legalized recreational marijuana use in 2023 after a majority of voters supported a constitutional amendment in 2022.
