Tokyo Summer Olympics officially postponed over virus scare
Event will be postponed until at least 2021
The International Olympic Committee has postpone this summer's Tokyo Olympic Games until at least 2021, amid coronavirus concerns.
The postponement was reported Tuesday by Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
The decision followed increasing pressure from countries and their athletes to postpone the games, for fear of contracting or spreading the virus in large public gatherings. Athletes also said the coronavirus restrictions in place made training too difficult and in some cases impossible.
This weekend, Canada and Australia announced that they would not be sending delegations to the summer games
