Former Hunter Biden associate Anthony Bobulinski sued Rep. Jamie Raskin, a Democrat from Maryland on Monday, for defamation, after the lawmaker repeatedly claimed Bobulinski lied to Congress.

Bobulinski has testified before Congress both privately and publicly on the Biden family’s foreign business dealings, but Raskin has allegedly attempted to dismiss Bobulinski’s testimony, and tarnish his reputation by labeling him as “Donald Trump’s political pawn” and accusing him of working for China or Russia. Bobulinski worked with Hunter Biden on a joint venture with CEFC China Energy in 2017 but was cut out of the deal later on.

Lawyers for Bobulinski claimed Raskin “besmirched” Bobulinski and his testimony in order to protect President Joe Biden, and that he rejected all calls their client made to get defamatory posts about him removed from social media.

“Defendant, Jamin (“Jamie”) Raskin, has repeatedly lied about Plaintiff, Anthony Bobulinski, implying, and directly stating, that Mr. Bobulinski has lied to Congress and is a Trump campaign plant and pawn, who has collaborated with theTrump campaign, engaged in criminal acts and is not a reliable witness,” the lawyers said in a court filing shared with Just The News. “Defendant lied solely to serve his political agenda by deliberately besmirching the character of Mr. Bobulinski and to protect Joseph Biden. Defendant’s assertions are unequivocally false and defamatory."

The lawsuit, which is seeking a jury trial, laid out three instances where Raskin allegedly lied about Bobulinski following his testimony.

Bobulinski testified before the House Oversight Committee in a closed-door hearing in February, where he addressed his own dealings with the Biden family, and his prior meetings with the then-vice president Joe Biden. After the hearing, Raskin claimed Bobulinski was “Donald Trump’s political pawn.”

A month later, in March, Raskin issued a statement posted to X that Bobulinski was a “bitterly frustrated would-be business partner who collaborated with the Trump campaign.”

Also in March, Raskin appeared on MSNBC and accused Hunter Biden witnesses of committing crimes and of being Russian or Chinese spies. The lawsuit says that all three of the instances are false, and that Raskin has provided no evidence to support his claims.

“Mr. Bobulinski is not affiliated with the Trump campaign in any way,” the lawsuit said. “He has never lied to Congress, or anyone else, from the inception of when he first started speaking publicly in 2020 about Biden Family improprieties with the Chinese Communist Party and affiliated organizations.

"Mr. Bobulinski’s testimony, despite Defendant’s delusional assertions, does not make him a Russian or Chinese spy. Rather, Mr. Bobulinski is a patriotic American. He is neither a Republican, nor a Trump campaign plant, and is most definitely not working with a foreign nation to spread disinformation and lie to the American people,” it concluded.

Just the News has reached out to Raskin for comment.

Bobulinski last month sued Fox News's Jessica Tarlov over comments she made on-air claiming that a Trump-aligned Super PAC was footing the bill for his legal fees.
