Former Trump aide Hope Hicks testifies in hush money trial
Hicks testified that she told Trump about the story coming out in the Wall Street Journal in 2016, and that the former president wanted to hide the story from his wife Melania Trump. The report also included allegations that Trump had an affair with former Playboy model Karen McDougal. Trump has denied both affairs
A former aide to former President Donald Trump testified in his New York "hush money" trial on Friday, as a key witness testifying against her former boss.
Hope Hicks worked as a top advisor to the president during the Trump administration. Hicks testified on the alleged hush money payment that was given to former porn star Stormy Daniels, and claimed she was told to deny the story about the alleged affair between Daniels and Trump.
Hicks testified that she told Trump about the story coming out in the Wall Street Journal in 2016, and that the former president wanted to hide the story from his wife Melania Trump. The report also included allegations that Trump had an affair with former Playboy model Karen McDougal. Trump has denied both affairs.
"He wanted to make sure that there was a denial of any kind of relationship," Hicks, who served as campaign press secretary, testified according to Reuters. "He was concerned about how it would be viewed by his wife, and he wanted me to make sure the newspapers weren’t delivered to the residence that morning."
Trump has been accused of falsifying business records to hide the alleged payment to Daniels.
