President Joe Biden on Wednesday appeared to confirm that Israel and Hamas had reached a cease-fire agreement.

Biden made a brief statement from the White House in which he said he was "deeply satisfied" with the deal and that his administration worked in unison with the incoming Trump administration to help broker the deal.

Biden also said the the release of hostages, including ones from the U.S., would be part of the deal.

It was reported that Israel and Hamas had agreed to a ceasefire deal that will halt fighting in Gaza, resulting in the release of hostages and Palestinian prisoners.

"I laid out the precise contours of this plan on May 31, 2024, after which it was endorsed unanimously by the UN Security Council," Biden said in a statement

"It is the result not only of the extreme pressure that Hamas has been under and the changed regional equation after a ceasefire in Lebanon and weakening of Iran — but also of dogged and painstaking American diplomacy. My diplomacy never ceased in their efforts to get this done," his statement concluded.

As of now, neither Israel or Hamas has confirmed that the deal has been reached.

Lawmakers in the U.S. have been pushing for a ceasefire deal after Hamas' Oct. 7, 2023, terror attack on Israel, which resulted in Israel's war on Hamas in Gaza.
