Biden names 'Jobs Cabinet' to sell his $2 trillion infrastructure-jobs package to Congress, America

President Biden has assigned five Cabinet secretaries to serve as his messengers to work with Congress and engage the public for his planned infrastructure plan.

"While most of the Cabinet will have a role in helping shape and press the jobs plan, today I'm announcing that I'm asking five Cabinet members to take special responsibility to explain the plan to the American public," Biden said Thursday in his first Cabinet meeting since being sworn in, according to CNN.

The president selected Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge, Labor Secretary Marty Walsh and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.

Also on Thursday, Senate Minority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell vowed to oppose president Biden's plan "every step of the way."

"We have some big philosophical differences, and that’s going to make it more and more difficult for us to reach bipartisan agreements," said the Kentucky Republican, according to the Associated Press.

Biden said theCcabinet members picked would be used mostly in "statesmanship for legacy-making legislation."

The announcement comes after the president announced his $2 trillion infrastructure plan.
