Fans heading to Madison Square Garden for Game 3 of the NBA Finals are advised to travel light and arrive well ahead of tipoff due to heightened security measures for President Donald Trump’s expected appearance at the game.

The New York Knicks announced Saturday that spectators will be subject to enhanced screening procedures when entering the arena, including security checkpoints similar to those used at airports. Officials also said a strict no-bag policy will be enforced throughout the event.

Game 3, scheduled to begin shortly after 8:40 p.m. Eastern time, marks the first NBA Finals contest played in New York City since 1999. Trump, who is a longtime fan of the Knicks, said Friday that he plans to attend the matchup. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said he welcomes Trump's attendance.

Arena officials warned that prohibited items brought to Madison Square Garden will not be accepted or stored on-site, encouraging fans to review restrictions before arriving. A list of banned items is available through the U.S. Secret Service.

Since returning to office, Trump has made appearances at several major sporting events, including the Super Bowl, the Daytona 500 and the Ryder Cup.
