Lara Trump, a Trump campaign adviser and daughter-in-law to the president, turned the tables Thursday on reports that her father-in-law, the president, is considering pardons for family members when he leaves the White House and she suggested that members of the Biden family might instead need them.

"I don't think we're the family that needs a pardon," she said on Just the News' "The Water Cooler" show. "It looks like that might go to the Biden family."

Lara Trump spoke one day after Hunter Biden, the son of Democrat Joe Biden, who could be the next president, acknowledged the U.S. attorney's office in Delaware is investigating his "tax affairs."

The focus of the probe is not public. But Hunter Biden's various overseas business deals in past years including those in China and Ukraine, during a period when his father was vice president, have come under scrutiny.

"I learned yesterday for the first time that the U.S. attorney’s office in Delaware advised my legal counsel, also yesterday, that they are investigating my tax affairs," Biden said in a statement Wednesday. "I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors."

The comment by Lara Trump, married to the president's son Eric, followed a question by “The Water Cooler” host David Brody, who said about the mainstream media and pardons: "They're making a lot of a lot of headlines about family pardons. I want to get your reaction to some of the family … talk and what the feeling is inside the family.”
