People instructed to wear facial coverings while in the West Wing
People will not need to wear the masks when at their desks the Wall Street Journal noted
West Wing staffers and visitors as of Monday are required to wear face masks as a coronavirus health-safety measure.
“We are requiring everyone who enters the West Wing to wear a mask or facial covering,” according to a White House memo obtained by The Wall Street Journal. “Unless you absolutely need to conduct in-person business in the West Wing, we respectfully ask you to avoid unnecessary visits.”
The memo follows Vice President Pence's press secretary Katie Miller and an individual who works as President Trump's valet last week testing positive for the virus.
Staffers will reportedly not be required to wear the covering while at their desks.
Several top government health officials have entered some form of quarantine due to contact with someone connected to the White House who tested positive for the virus.
