President Donald Trump started construction on a new helipad on the White House's South Lawn.

Construction crews worked into the night on Monday, behind a large fence.

The helipad will be located near the South Portico, where Marine One, the call sign used by helicopters transporting the president, typically lands, according to the Washington Post

The White House hasn't announced the project, but it's intended to protect the grass from scorching by the new Sikorsky Aircraft VH-92A Patriot helicopters. Lockheed Martin, which owns Sikorsky Aircraft, spent years trying to find a solution to the problem. The company donated $5 million for the new helipad.
