President Donald Trump said Monday the upcoming UFC Freedom 250 cage fight in June will feature a 4,500-seat arena on the White House's South Lawn.

The fight is scheduled for June 14, which coincides with the president's 80th birthday, and will feature a total of 12 fighters. The fight is part of the United States' 250th birthday celebrations this year and includes stops at the Lincoln Memorial and the National Mall.

“I’ve been involved in a lot of big events, I have never had an event that has had more interest than the UFC fight we have right at the front door,” Trump told reporters. "They’re going to start building a 4,500 seat arena [on the South Lawn]. And then in the back at the Ellipse, we’re going to have 100,000, maybe 50 [50,000] to 100,000 people, I guess.

“They’re building tremendous stages, and we’re going to have massive screens of the fight. It’s a very popular sport," he added.

The main fight will be between lightweight fighters Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje. Brazilian Alex Pereira and France’s Ciryl Gane are also slated to fight each other as heavyweight fighters.

The public can now apply for early ticket access for the fan festival through Thursday and tickets will be given through a random drawing. Guests can only receive up to two tickets per person.
