President Donald Trump said Thursday that Iran has just over two weeks to reach a deal with the United States on its nuclear program or suffer "unfortunate" consequences.

"We’re going to make a deal or we’re going to get a deal one way or the other," Trump told reporters on Air Force One. "We’re either going to get a deal or it’s going to be unfortunate for them."

Trump said the country has no more than "10, 15 days, pretty much maximum" to reach the agreement, but did not specify what the deal must include. However, the U.S. and Israel want Iran to give up its nuclear program, its long-range ballistic missiles and to stop supporting groups around the Middle East and stop using force against protesters inside Iran, according to Fox News.

The president said "good talks are being had" with Iran as negotiations continue, but at the same time the U.S. has been building up its military presence in the Middle East recently over heightened tensions with Iran, including by deploying multiple aircraft carriers in the region.

Iran has warned that, if threatened, it will target U.S. military bases in the region.
