The Trump administration on Friday released a budget document on Friday that outlines proposed funding cuts for fiscal year 2026.

The more than 1,200-page 2026 budget appendix a 22% cut to domestic spending while proposing an increase to the defense budget.

The Pentagon budget has increased year-after-year since Trump's first term and the trend continued during former President Biden's term in office. The FY2025 defense budget was more than $850 billion.

The spending proposal is separate from the "Big Beautiful Bill Act" that the GOP is trying to pass with budget reconciliation to avoid the Senate filibuster.

The GOP will need some votes from Democrats in the Senate to pass regular 2026 appropriations.
