Congress releases names of over 20 lawmakers and former lawmakers investigated for sexual misconduct
The list includes over 20 lawmakers from both sides of the political aisle, such as Democratic California Rep. Eric Swalwell and former Texas GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales. Both men resigned their posts last week over the sexual misconduct allegations.
The House Ethics Committee released a list Monday of current and former lawmakers who have been accused of sexual misconduct and its probes into those lawmakers since 1976.
The list includes over 20 lawmakers from both sides of the political aisle, such as Democratic California Rep. Eric Swalwell and former Texas GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales. Both men resigned their posts last week over the sexual misconduct allegations.

Former California Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell, who was investigated in 2026.
Former Texas GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales, who was investigated in 2026.
Florida GOP Rep. Cory Mills, who is still under investigation.
Former Florida GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz, who was under investigation in 2024.
Former New York GOP Rep. George Santos, who was investigated in 2023.
Former North Carolina GOP Rep. Madison Cawthorn, who was investigated in 2022.
Former Guam Democratic Rep. Michael San Nicolas, who was investigated in 2022.
Former New York GOP Rep. Tom Reed, who was investigated in 2021.
The late-Florida Democratic Rep. Alcee Hastings, who was listed twice for investigations, in 2020 and 2014.
Former California Democratic Rep. Katie Hill, who was investigated in 2019.
Former Nevada Democratic Rep. Ruben Kihuen, who was investigated in 2018.
Former Pennsylvania GOP Rep. Patrick Meehan, who was also investigated in 2018.
The late-Texas GOP Rep. Blake Farenthold, who died in 2025 and was investigated in 2018.
Former Arizona GOP Rep. Trent Franks, who was investigated in 2017.
The late-Michigan Democratic Rep. John Conyers, who was investigated in 2017. He died at the age of 90.
Former Democratic New York Rep. Eric Massa, who was investigated in 2010.
Former Democratic California Rep. Gary Condit, who was investigated in 2001.
Former Illinois Democratic Rep. Mel Reynolds, who was investigated in 1995.
Former Democratic Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank, who was investigated in 1990.
The late-Illinois Democratic Rep. Gus Savage, who was investigated in 1990.
Former Democratic California Rep. Jim Banks, who was investigated in 1989.
The late-Ohio GOP Rep. Donald “Buz” Lukens, who was also investigated in 1989.
The late-Democratic Massachusetts Rep. Gerry Studds. who was investigated in 1983.
The late-Republican Illinois Rep. Dan Crane, who was investigated in 1983.
The late-Democratic Ohio Rep. Wayne Hays, who was investigated for an alleged affair with a staffer in 1976.
“The Committee has a long history of investigating allegations of sexual misconduct by Members of the House, ranging from criminal sexual activity to behavior implicating civil employment discrimination laws and more general standards of conduct,” the committee said in a statement. “The Committee has always made public its findings whenever allegations of sexual misconduct were substantiated.”
