Westminster Mayor Chi Charlie Nguyen is standing by his decision to name a street after the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Nguyen, who escaped communist Vietnam, said he refuses to back down after honoring Kirk with a street dedication, despite protests over the move.

He led an effort to rename part of “All American Way” as “Charlie Kirk Way,” arguing that Kirk has encouraged young Americans to speak openly and become involved in politics.

Nguyen told Fox News Digital that Americans are "lucky we have the freedom of speech here, and we all have to respect that."

"Nobody should be murdered or assassinated because of promoting freedom of speech," Nguyen said.
