Trump, Xi strike $30 billion tariff deal

The Chinese imports in the deal include small appliances, holiday decorations, toys and children’s car seats.

The White House announced that President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping have reached a deal to cut tariffs on $30 billion worth of goods.

According to a White House fact sheet, China has agreed to import at least 10 million metric tons of coal from the U.S. in 2027 and 2028.

The agreement covers U.S. exports of agricultural goods, wood products, fish and seafood, cosmetics, and medical devices, the White House said. 

The Chinese imports in the deal include small appliances, holiday decorations, toys as well as children’s car seats.

China and the U.S. agreed to establish a Board of Investment. The mission is to "discuss potential investment opportunities and investment-related impediments and to provide a structured channel for the two sides to address commercially meaningful investment-related issues."
