Authorities will demolish Idaho house where quadruple-killings took place
University calls demolition "healing step."
The home where four University of Idaho students were brutally murdered last year will be demolished, the university said this week, with the school indicating the property may be used for a memorial of some sort in the future.
University President Scott Green said in a press release on Friday that the owner of the property where Xana Kernodle, Ethan Chapin, Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves were killed on Nov. 13 had offered the house to the university, and that the university accepted ownership of it.
"The house will be demolished," Grene wrote. "This is a healing step and removes the physical structure where the crime that shook our community was committed."
"Demolition also removes efforts to further sensationalize the crime scene," he continued, adding: "We are evaluating options where students may be involved in the future development of the property."
The suspect in the killings, 28-year-old Washington State University graduate student Bryan Kohberger, was arrested several weeks after the killings.
