Bodycam footage shows police handcuff congressman doctor who was treating teenager
"I’m glad the video is out. It shows the incompetence of the authorities and their complete disregard for the young girl in distress," Jackson tweeted.
Newly released body camera footage shows police officers detaining Texas Republican Rep. Ronny Jackson after he attempted to give medical aid to a teenage girl having seizures at a rodeo earlier this month.
Jackson, the former White House physician, was briefly handcuffed and placed face-first on the ground by police while he attempted to provide aid to the 15-year-old girl at the White Deer Rodeo in Amarillo.
The footage, obtained by the Texas Tribune, shows officers restraining Jackson, who expresses loud, expletive-laden frustration during the incident.
"I’m glad the video is out. It shows the incompetence of the authorities and their complete disregard for the young girl in distress," Jackson tweeted following the video's release. "We have the best Sheriffs in the country here in the panhandle and north Texas. Unfortunately, the Sheriff in Carson County is not among them."
"I will apologize for my language, but I will not apologize for getting upset & speaking my mind considering the circumstances," he continued. "If I had to do it again, I would still step up & act in a life-threatening situation. I will ALWAYS help someone in need. I WILL NOT apologize for that."
Carson County Sheriff Tam Terry has stated that Jackson called him after the incident and insisted that the officers involved ought to face consequences, ADN America reported.
