Ex-Proud Boys organizer Joseph Biggs sentenced to 17 years in prison over Jan. 6
The 17-year sentence is less than the 33 years recommended by federal prosecutors.
Former Proud Boys organizer Joseph Biggs was sentenced Thursday to 17 years behind bars for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot.
The 17-year sentence is less than the 33 years recommended by federal prosecutors.
Biggs told the judge just before being sentenced, "I know that I messed up that day, but I’m not a terrorist," according to The Associated Press.
Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday after his original sentencing was delayed Wednesday because U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly was ill.
