Lindsay Clancy is scheduled to return to a Massachusetts courtroom on Monday for a hearing that may determine the date for her retrial on murder charges in the deaths of her three children.

Prosecutors have not yet said if they intend to try Clancy for a second time, leaving open the possibility that Monday's hearing will determine that no retrial is held. It's possible that the parties will hammer out a plea deal that would end the case outright.

Prosecutors and Clancy's attorneys are expected to discuss rescheduling the trial and the defense's efforts to investigate a lone holdout juror who maintained that Clancy was guilty and led to a mistrial in her first trial in September, CNN reported.

Judge William Sullivan has already rejected several defense requests, but a motion to dismiss the case over double jeopardy and other issues remains unresolved.

Lindsay Clancy, 36, was charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the January 2023 deaths of her three children, ages 5, 3 and 8 months, inside the family’s home in Duxbury, Massachusetts. She then cut herself and jumped out a window of her home, paralyzing herself in the fall.

While she admitted to carrying out the killings, her defense argued that she had been experiencing postpartum psychosis and heard a voice commanding her to kill the children and herself.
