Intruder fatally shoots Georgia college student on campus, police say
The identities of the suspect and the victim have not been publicly released as of Sunday morning.
An "armed intruder" fatally shot a student at Kennesaw State University in Cobb County, Georgia, officials confirmed.
"Kennesaw State officials can confirm that a female student was fatally shot on campus. A suspect has been detained," the university's department of public safety said.
"There is no threat to the campus community," officials also said.
University police are working alongside the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The school's emergency management department had put out an alert Saturday afternoon stating: "Armed Intruder reported at Kennesaw State. Seek shelter in a secure location until further notice."
The university issued an all-clear notice about half an hour later and asked the public to "avoid the South Campus Housing area due to police activity."
