At least 10 shot, 4 dead after Louisiana Fourth of July block party
An estimated 200 people attended the block party.
At least 10 people were shot, including four fatally, during a Fourth of July block party in Shreveport, Louisiana, officials said Wednesday.
Officers responded around midnight to a reported shooting, but it was difficult to reach the victims due to the number of vehicles on the street for the party.
"Getting here and getting EMS here was a difficult thing. A lot of us had to park our cars and take off running because there were so many cars on the side of the street," Shreveport Police Department Lt. Van Wray said, according to local outlet KSLA.
Councilwoman Tabatha Taylor estimated that more than 200 people attended the annual block party.
The Shreveport Times reported that six of the shooting victims are expected to recover.
The mass shooting is part of a string of several such incidents over the Fourth of July weekend, including ones in D.C., Texas, Pennsylvania and Maryland that left at least 10 dead and dozens wounded.
