Police fatally shoot suspect in Idaho deputy’s killing

The suspect’s name was not released, but authorities said he was 65 years old and wanted for a misdemeanor.

Police on Sunday shot a man suspected of killing an Idaho sheriff’s deputy.

According to the Ada County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Tobin Bolter, 27, was shot in Boise during a routine traffic stop Saturday. The suspect fled, and Boise police located the suspect’s vehicle about a half hour after the shooting.

Police found a man believed to be the suspect outside a home, according to the Associated Press. Shortly after midnight Sunday, after trying to get the man to surrender, the man fired at police. The officers returned fire. The man was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.

The suspect’s name was not released, but authorities said he was 65 years old and wanted for a misdemeanor.
