Convicted sex criminal Ghislaine Maxwell said this week that she believes her former associate Jeffery Epstein did not kill himself but was actually murdered, lending support to a host of conspiracy theories surrounding the latter's death in August of 2019.

Epstein was found that month hanging in his jail cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan. He had bene awaiting prosecution on child sex trafficking charges.

Maxwell this week said that she did not believe his death was self-inflicted.

"I believe that he was murdered," she said in a prison interview with TalkTV.

"I was shocked," she added. "Then I wondered how it had happened. Because as far as I was concerned, he was going to... was sure he was going to appeal."

Maxwell herself is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence in Florida on sex trafficking and other charges.

Referring to Epstein in the interview, Maxwell said at one point: "I honestly wish I had never met him."

"Looking back now, I probably wish I had stayed in England," she added.
