An alleged illegal immigrant was arrested Thursday in South Carolina after being accused by officials of making a fake bomb threat, resulting in an interstate highway being shut down.

Ahmad Jamal Khamees Alhendi, 28, was stopped by authorities for having a missing license plate, the South Carolina Dept. of Public Safety (SCDPS) reported.

After being stopped, Alhendi allegedly told a police officer that there was an explosive device inside his car.

This resulted in six lanes of I-85 being shut down for multiple hours, according to Fox News.

Eventually the lane was cleared after it was determined there was no explosive device.

Alhendi was charged in court on Friday for giving false information about a bomb.
