Three killed, five wounded in Southern California biker bar shooting
Law enforcement arrived on the scene within two minutes of receiving the first report of a shooting.
Three people are dead, in addition to the gunman, and five others are wounded after a shooting at a Southern California biker bar, the Orange County Sheriff's Department said.
The shooting occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday at the popular Cook’s Corner bar in rural Trabuco Canyon, Orange County.
Law enforcement arrived on the scene within two minutes of receiving the first report of a shooting, and two minutes later, the gunman was dead, Orange County Sheriff’s Sgt. Frank Gonzalez said, according to The Associated Press.
Ventura Police Department Cmdr. Mike Brown told the Ventura County Star newspaper that Orange County officials informed him that the gunman worked for his department from 1986 to 2014 before retiring.
Orange County Undersheriff Jeff Hallock did not provide details about how the shooting unfolded nor about the gunman in a conference hours after the shooting.
The sheriff's office said it plans to hold a briefing Thursday afternoon with more details about the incident.
California has experienced multiple recent mass shootings. In January, 11 people were killed while celebrating the Lunar New Year in Monterey Park. That same month in the state, seven people were killed in a shooting in Half Moon Bay. Also in January, three were killed in a shooting in Beverly Crest.
