Britney Spears says had abortion after then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake said didn't want to be dad
"If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it," Spears wrote in an excerpt of her memoir published by People magazine.
Popstar Britney Spears revealed in an excerpt of her memoir published Tuesday by People magazine that she had an abortion years ago after then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake said he wasn't ready to be a father.
“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” Spears wrote in the book. “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young."
She also wrote: "If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father."
Spears' book, titled "The Woman in Me," is expected to be released Oct. 24 and goes into detail about her life, faith and dealing with fame.
“To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life," Spears wrote in reference to the abortion.
Spears has been in the news for the past few years in regard to her legal battle to escape her conservatorship that she was in for years.
She was released from it in November 2021.
