Epstein friend Ghislaine Maxwell arrested in sex-trafficking probe, six-count federal indictment
The arrest comes just days prior to the anniversary of Epstein's arrest on child sex trafficking charges
The FBI has arrested Ghislaine Maxwell, long-time friend of Jeffrey Epstein and alleged procurer of the young girls and women Epstein sexually abused for years.
Maxwell was arrested Thursday morning in New Hampshire on charges related to an ongoing probe by New York federal prosecutors.
The indictment accuses Maxwell of aiding Epstein "recruit, groom and ultimately abuse," girls and young women for a number of years.
Epstein died of an apparent suicide last August in a federal jail.
The federal indictment charges Maxwell with six counts, including encouraging minors to travel with the intention of engaging in illegal sex acts and trafficking of a minor with intent to engage in sexual activity.
"While Epstein's death closed many doors to the many aspects of what went on, Ghislaine Maxwell's arrest has the potential, if vigorously prosecuted, to open those doors and will be extremely important to the victims who still have unanswered questions," Jack Scarola, who has represented Epstein victims, told Just the News.
