Illusionist Roy Horn of famed Siegfried and Roy duo dies from coronavirus
Roy had been injured in an animal attack in 2003.
Roy Horn, the world renown illusionist and member of the Siegfried & Roy duo whose magic tricks with animals mesmerized audiences for decades in Las Vegas, died Friday from complications from the coronavirus at the age of 75.
Horn died at a Las Vegas hospital, his publicist Dave Kirvin announced, and was immediately hailed by the man who shared the stage with him until a horrific tiger accident ended their show in 2003.
“Today, the world has lost one of the greats of magic, but I have lost my best friend,” Siegfried Fischbacher said in the statement. “From the moment we met, I knew Roy and I, together, would change the world. There could be no Siegfried without Roy, and no Roy without Siegfried.”
Roy suffered severe injuries when a tiger in his show mauled him on stage at Mirage casino in October 2003. He eventually recovered after a stroke and long rehabilitation but the show came to an end.
