NFL will not schedule Bills-Bengals game for this week
"The NFL continues to be in regular contact with the medical team caring for Damar Hamlin, and also the Bills and Bengals organizations and the NFL Players Association."
The National Football League will not reschedule the rest of the Cincinnati Bengals-Buffalo Bills game this week.
Play was suspended on Monday night after Bills cornerback Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest after tackling the Bengal's Tee Higgins. Hamlin was removed from the field and hospitalized following emergency treatment he received after the collision. The league suspended play in an unprecedented move, recognizing the severity of Hamlin's injury.
"The NFL continues to be in regular contact with the medical team caring for Damar Hamlin, and also the Bills and Bengals organizations and the NFL Players Association. After speaking with both teams and NFLPA leadership, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell informed the clubs today that the Bills-Bengals game will not be resumed this week," the league said in a statement.
"On behalf of our family, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to Damar during this challenging time. We are deeply moved by the prayers, kind words, and donations from fans around the country," read a statement from the Hamlin family issued on Tuesday.
Hamlin is in his second season with the Bills.
