Twisted Sister's Dee Snider 'not gonna take' being called 'transphobe' for opposing surgery on kids

Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider says that while he supports the LGBT community, he is against children medically changing their gender.

Referencing Twisted Sister's classic hit song, "We're Not Gonna Take It," Snider said he's "not gonna take it" when he is called a "transphobe" because he does not support children making permanent decisions to reaffirm the gender they identify with, Fox News Digital reported Thursday.

Snider, a pro-choice Christian who has said he is "not a conservative," said in the interview that he thinks gender reassignment for minors is irresponsible parenting.

"I think irresponsible parenting is the norm these days rather than the exception. I’m amazed sometimes at just the missteps, and there are things that seem so obvious and yet some parents just don’t seem to get it," he said.

"We’re all making mistakes here but as a parent there are certain things that you come to know, and one thing you come to know is that your kids don’t know everything," he also said. "Certainly, the younger you are, the less ability you have to make really the smartest decisions, lifetime decisions."

Snider came out last month in support of Kiss co-founder Paul Stanley who had tweeted that there is a difference between teaching acceptance and confusing young children about their sexual identification.

"You know what? There was a time where I 'felt pretty' too. Glad my parents didn't jump to any rash conclusions!" Snider tweeted in response to Stanley's post.

Snider said several days later that he had accepted an invitation from the San Francisco Gay Pride Parade to be a grand marshal and sing "We're Not Gonna Take It" during the event.

SF Pride said it "mutually agreed to part ways" with Snider over the post and that the incident is a "reminder that even allies need to be educated to ensure that they are not casually promoting transphobia."
