Elon Musk removes restrictions on Daily Wire's 'What Is A Woman' documentary
The documentary was given a warning label that read “Visibility Limited. This Tweet may violate Twitter’s rules against Hateful Conduct.”
Twitter owner Elon Musk removed the restrictions on the The Daily Wire documentary "What Is A Woman," which aired on the platform Thursday night.
Twitter originally restricted the launch of the documentary and Musk said it was a mistake that would be fixed. The documentary is available on Twitter for free for 24 hours.
Daily Wire co-CEO Jeremy Boreing said in a social media statement Thursday that Twitter had canceled a deal to stream “What Is A Woman?” and “would no longer provide us any support and would actually limit the reach of the film and label it as ‘hateful conduct’ because of ‘misgendering.’”
Elon Musk responded and said that the streaming was going to occur.
The documentary was uploaded to Twitter at 8:13 p.m. and the film was restricted and given a warning label that read “Visibility Limited. This Tweet may violate Twitter’s rules against Hateful Conduct.”
Twitter users were also unable to share or retweet the premise of the documentary.
“That was fast,” Boreing said in response to the restriction. “Even after @elonmusk said Twitter’s threat to label What Is A Woman ‘hateful conduct’ and to throttle the film’s reach was a mistake, Twitter did that very thing instantly upon the film going live.”
